Just found this – “At last, you can have your goods delivered to your door without being at home. Homeport is a revolutionary new home delivery system with a worldwide patent pending that allows retailers and delivery companies to leave virtually anything on your doorstep in secured boxes.
Homeport launched in London with Food Ferry and Berry Bros enabling you to order all of your groceries(including fresh, chilled & frozen food, wines and spirits) by internet or telephone without the hassle of waiting at home for the delivery van. Sainsbury’s to You will be available from January 2001 in South-West London.
You can also arrange for unattended collection and delivery of your laundry and dry cleaning through Jeeves of Belgravia or London Laundry. And if you want to return anything simply place it straight back into the box for collection. Once you’ve unpacked your delivery, reattach the empty box into your Homeport and it will be collected to avoid the clutter of a permanently fixed box.”
