v1.26 is live with changes to the sysMode-changer to better reflect the language translations used by Resideo in various instruction manuals.

New feature on the LaunchPad screen. Delayed Start and Duration buttons are now present. To use them, first tap on the button and then tap on the icon of the scene you wish to use it with. The single or dual-slider popup will then deploy. Version is therefore now v1.27.

Thanks to jweaver for suggesting this feature.

I never made much use of the Alexa skill as I struggled to remember the commands, but your web app is a much better fit for my needs.

Having two additional full-system schedules has enabled me to very easily heat up spare bedrooms for visitors and then just as easily return to normal after they have gone. This was previously a rather tedious process via the standard Evohome controller, so many thanks for all your efforts. They are much appreciated!

v2.0 is now live with a new language-selector screen inside the web app on the settings page. In the past the web app took note of the language you selected during the account-creation process and used that inside the app. You can now override that as desired and it will apply to all your devices.

I'm also pleased to release full support for the Dutch language in the app. I'm pretty fluent but not a native speaker so if any Dutchies using the app notice any imperfections please let me know.

This feature will not be back-ported to the Alexa skill because I have not written a Dutch voice model (that's 20x more work) and because switching back and forth between EN and DE as display language makes no sense when the spoken language is a setting you need to change for your Echo from the Alexa mobile app (a skill cannot do that itself). Also, while Amazon did start supporting Dutch on Alexa a while back it's nothing to write home about.

You'll notice a little flag at the top of the settings page where the version number is shown to indicate the current language-selection.

I have just noticed that both the Alexa Skill and the new web app have two reset options, one on the Setpoint Edit page called SysReset and another on the LaunchPad page called Reset with a different icon. Both of these generate the same message: The system mode is now 'Fully Reset'.

What exactly do these buttons do? Are their purposes genuinely different?

EDIT: I just realised I hadn't really done my homework before posting this question. I've now found this explanation for the Setpoint Edit Page:
"The SysReset button to the left does the same as Reset on the LaunchPad or widget — namely set the system mode to AutoWithReset (a setting the API supports but which is unavailable from your Evotouch panel). Choosing it sets all zones to FollowSchedule and cancels all overrides. It's deliberately called SysReset here so that you don't inadvertently think it will just 'undo' any changes you made in the UI on this screen".

However, the Help for the Launchpad page doesn't make it clear why it doesn't also use the same SysReset name and icon as on the Setpoint Edit page. I'm also struggling to understand the difference between Reset and Baseline.

Re Reset/SysReset, there is a concept in user experience design called A-B testing. You call the same thing by different names in different locations throughout the UI and see how the variations resonate with users. An LG TV will often have exactly the same feature nested in different sub-menus with different descriptions. This affords the UI designer knowledge as to what terminology resonates with users and under what menu heading they look for it. This is deduced from which path to the same actual feature is used by the majority of users.Same here in EvoControl. Tom-eh-to, Tom-ah-to.

Re Baseline vs Reset. Immensely different concepts. Reset sets all zones to follow-schedule, cancelling all permanent and temporary overrides. It does not touch schedules. Baseline re-uploads the most-recenltly uploaded schedule preset to all zones. So if Office was on preset A, Kitchen was on B and Bedroom was on C, and you said "Alexa, make it 20 deg in the Office, Kitchen and Bedroom at 4PM for 30 mins" you'd cause all 3 zones to have an edited live schedule which no longer matched any A, B, or C. By saying "Alexa, baseline" you'll return Office to A, KItchen to B and Bedroom to C in one easy single command. Baseline only affects schedules and does not touch zone-modes.

Thanks for that, Phil. Much appreciated. The next day and next schedule indicators on the histograms page are now much more legible, even on my smartphone . However, I still find the Alexa revolving hints difficult to read. They would benefit from being in a lighter grey colour.

Did you make similar changes on any other pages?

Because Vimeo now wants users to validate their ID by uploading selfies before you could watch the demo video, I've uploaded it to YouTube and it's available at

Recently I've started having to reauthenticate the app every time my phone is restarted. Anyway to prevent this behaviour?

Nothing changed in the app itself that would cause that. What OS is the phone on and what browser are you using?
