If it’s been a while since you gave the Plex media server a try then it’s time to take anther look. Plex supports a vast array of hardware including Google’s Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Roku plus Samsung and LG smart TV apps. You can run Plex software clients on all the major platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
Here are a couple of recent videos to help. First an overview from Plex co-founder Scott Olechowski on how to get your Plex media server up and running. Then a second video from Audioholics on setting Plex on the Roku and Ripping Blu-rays.

Quick question, which I can’t find an answer for on the Plex site.
Does Plex allow you to “fling” media to DLNA renderers?
I know the Plex Media Server can behave as a DLNA server to use the Plex library with DLNA renderers and controllers, but I’m looking for the other way around, to use Plex clients as DLNA controllers (but using the Plex library).
You can ‘flick’ from say your phone or tablet Plex app to another Plex device – like a Chromecast or PHT PC. But apps can’t control DLNA clients currently.
