The XBMC team have released the first ARM version of their media centre software. Designed for the second generation Apple TV, it frees a Jailbroken £99 plastic puck from the iTunes walled garden and opens it up to become the sort of player we're all looking for. While Plex has been on the ATV2 since last November, this is the first release from the XBMC team. However this is described as "full blown" XBMC running on the A4 powered iOS devices (including the iPad and iPhone 4). Check out the videos after the jump.
"The XBMC team is proud to present our first ARM-based release, and it’s a big one. Scott Davilla, with the help of Edgar (gimli) Hucek and Zeljko (amet) Ametovic and several other developers and testers, is finally ready to pull the curtain off of his fun little secret.
You know that $99 tiny form-factor powerhouse that would be just perfect if it could only run XBMC? Now it can.
Or how about that iPad that is just begging to be used as a real portable media center? Now it can.
And while we’re at it, put your iPhone4 to work using XBMC as well. Why? Because we can.

Works interface is slightly clunky and at the moment only gives stereo over hdmi, im sure 5.1 will come though and performance improvements.
If you’re on a really early firmware that it shipped with make sure you run TinyUmbrella first http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/

I had to go into settings video -> calbrate before it would fit on my screen (i’m using 2nd or 3rd generation lcd so you might not get this). Also if adding content to play from a NAS the ok button under Add doesnt seem to work. The only workaround I could get to work was type smb://ipaddie/sharename into the field that had in directly.
New version out lots of fixes.
* GUI speedup
* Webserver enabled
* RTMP support
* AC3/DTS Audio Dialogs
* Rotating for the iPhone and iPad
* Black and Dim screensavers working
* Bluetooth Support
* SMB shares with Windows Live Essentials should work.
* Sleep timer works
* Add-on updates now working
* Decrypted ISO playback works
* Thumbnail creation fixed
